Thrift Find!! Vintage Barbie Swimming Pool

Three years ago, I had a little girl.   Of course, I vowed that when she was the right age, I would introduce her to the wonders of Barbie.   I dearly loved all of my barbies growing up.  I remember getting the dream house for my birthday, then the dream pool, and the RV.   I had them all.  But somewhere in my teens, I gave away the dream house and pool to a little girl I babysat for.   Never thinking that I would have a daughter of my own.

So I searched Ebay and finally purchased a Dream House, just like mine.   Yes, I am reliving my childhood through my daughter.   But, lets face it! The Barbie houses and cars today are crappy.    I didn't want that for her.   After the house my search turned to the pool.

I was in the Goodwill Clearance Center, where they sell it by the pound!!   My husband gringes at the mere mention.   So there I was, digging in the bins and a light shines down, the angel chorus sings "AHHHHHHHHH"   there was the slide to the Barbie Dream Pool.   It was a holy grail in the wilds.    I searched until I found almost everything.  There are 2 pieces of railing missing, the shower, and small accessories are also missing, but I am not worried about that.

Overall, I am thrilled because I only paid $5 for it.  I have seen them on Ebay for $30-50 in varying conditions.    Now my daughter's Barbies can through the greatest pool parties all summer long.

  1. That's cool! What a fabulous score for just $5! Your daughter (and you) will have hours and hours of fun. I was a Barbie fanatic too. My mom and my friend's mom would make homemade clothes for them too. We would imagine the hours a way. Barbies are the bomb!

  2. Congrats, I know how exciting it can be to find something you have been wanting/looking for. I am so jealous that you have a GW clearance center. I have only read about them but have never had a chance to visit one. It's on my list :-))
