Am I the only person in America that could care less about The Hunger Games?

Am I the only person in America that could care less about The Hunger Games opening this weekend?   I have friends who have read the books.  They have all lost their minds about the movie opening.  I know a few went to the midnight showing.  I have had several people rave endlessly about how I needed to read the books, but I just don't care for the premise of the story.   I am not really interested in a post-apocalyptic setting where teenagers are chosen by lottery to battle it out to the death. You know things are not going to end well.   It just doesn't come off as a feel good type story.

I know there is a lot of fangirl and fanboy buzz.  It's sold more advance tickets then one of the Twilight movies, said one article.  It will be the next Harry Potter or Star Wars, said another.    I am skeptical about that bold statement.  Harry Potter and Star Wars are their own animals.  Comparisons like that shouldn't be made until the movie makes some money.

As far as Twilight goes, maybe The Hunger Games will be as big.  Who is to say.  I am probably one of the only women in the country who hasn't read Twilight or really seen the movies.  There are rules to vampire stories, and rule number one: They don't sparkle!  I just never could get past that one.

  1. I have to admit I've never read the hunger games series but the movie looks entertaining. I hope its worth the hype unlike Twilight. I never read any of those books and the 30 minutes I watched of the movie left me unhappy. That movie sucked, poor actors, and crappy graphics. i still don't understand the hype.
