Macro Monday

Photobucket

This is my favorite shot taken with my phone.  I snapped a picture of this lizard while we were visiting the pet store.  There was just something about his face.    I added a vintage film grain effect to the picture.

Menu Plan Monday

I am trying to stick with menu planning each, so far so good.  This is my second week for linking up.  I think this helps me stick to my plan.

So, this is what's for dinner at our house this week:

Monday: Salad Bar Night.   Organic salad mix, grilled chicken, toppings, fruit.   Chocolate cake for dessert.

Tuesday:   Chicken, cheese, and olive enchiladas, avocado salad, spanish rice

Wednesday:   Veggie Meatball Subs, Chips, fruit salad

Thursday:  grilled chicken pasta with basil pesto sauce, salad, garlic knots

Friday:  Vegetable/Tofu stir fry with noodles

Saturday:  BBQ chicken and grilled corn

Sunday:  YOYO

This post is linked to Menu Plan Monday.

One World, Many Stories- Summer Reading Program

This year, we are taking part in our local libraries summer reading program.  Summer reading is important because it helps children retain important reading skills learned through out the school year.    One study found that "if a child reads a million words a year, that at least one thousand new words will be added to their vocabulary."

If you have a child who is a reluctant reader, the library programs will get their attention and give them an opportunity to find something of interest.  It will also help create a life long interest in reading.

Research your local library's summer reading program and schedule of activities.   Most summer reading programs include some sort of incentives for children and adults to read during the summer.   It is a powerful message to children when they see parents reading as well.

If you don't have the opportunity to take part in your local library programs, create your own summer reading program at home. There are many websites that will give you plenty of ideas and help you create your own reading logs.

There is one world and so many stories.
